Welcome to Hannah’s Apothecary! As I’m sure all of you can figure out, my name is Hannah(although not all posts will be by me). I am the owner of the apothecary and I do most if not all of the creating of the different products we offer as well as the different products you all come up with.
To start off the first ever post(and my first ever blog post…bear with me), I wanted to give everyone a little introduction as to who I am and what the future of the apothecary holds.
To start, I am from Buffalo, New York and as of right now all my business is focused around that location. My apologies if you are outside of the 716 area, but do not worry I do plan to get shipping set up a little later down the road.
Most of the crafting of all of your orders actually happens in my kitchen, which I of course fully clean before I even start and then make sure I’m washing my hands vigorously. While crafting I’m usually jamming out to whatever musical tickles my brain, and sometimes my partner helps me balance out the scents of the products too.
I’m sure if you’ve gotten to this point, you’ve also seen the about section of the website and maybe read about how the apothecary got started. But, for those of you who haven’t, the apothecary came to be because of encouragement from my partner, friends and family.
When I had first moved from the suburbs of Lancaster, and into Buffalo, I had brought everything that I needed to supply myself and my partner with the basic soapy self care needs. This was his first time using the soaps and other items I make, and he loved them. He suggested that I started to sell them. I was blown away by this suggestion and said that I would consider it if, after giving some to my friends, they say the same thing. Which, they clearly did. One of them even offered to host my website. So, I got started on planning. I needed product, names and a platform. My initial go to was social media while Jeremy, the owner of Wrights Tek, and I worked together to make a game plan.
During that period, my friends and I worked together come up with names and combinations for products I could sell, but I wasn’t entirely satisfied. I knew that if my friends and I could all come up with ideas, so could anyone else. So I opened up the opportunity to those who want it, to design their own products. This concept was well received and quickly became well loved. And now I have a solid team of friends and family helping me grow this business.
